Scout Alarm Canada Review

Scout Alarm Canada Review

Scout Alarm is a Chicago, IL based company that provides services to both the United States and Canada. They were originally established in 2013 as an independent crowdfunding campaign to pre-sell its devices to customers and within 30 days, Scout exceeded its goal. Ever since then there has been no turning back for them.

Scout Alarm Pro’s

Scout Alarm is an easy to install DIY security system that looks pretty good. There has been some chatter about them having a great support team that gets back to you in a timely manner whenever you need assistance with anything regarding their system. This is a great thing because you don’t have to deal with messy installers coming over to your home like some other companies insist on doing with their customers.

People with pets seem to love the temperature sensing that is attached to each of the sensors because it is great when your dog is home and you need to know whether to turn on the air conditioning or the heat if the temperature gets too high or low. Its a pretty handy feature.

Scout Alarm Cons

I sometimes hear people complaining that the Scout door panel and hub tends to break pretty easily, meaning you might have to replace them during the course of using this company’s services. These replacements may bring prolonged periods of having an unsecured home, which negates the purpose of the system.

There has also been complaints about the battery life for their sensors being way too short, meaning you may have to keep a few batteries lying around just in case the sensors stop working. The good news is however, that they give you free battery replacements whenever that happens but the downside to this issue is you will have to wait for them to arrive in mail. This could take up to 2 weeks…leaving your house unsecured in the process.

Scout Alarm is a solid option worth looking into if you have pets and would like to spend a little less on your monthly monitoring. However the battery life issue is a bit of a security risk that has many people concerned. If you would like to get a more secure system with the same features…Frontpoint might be a better option. However, if you’ve made your mind up and you’ve decided to go with Scout, I would suggest taking advantage of the Scout Alarm deals on Amazon.
